Summer is well & truly underway and my guess is so are millions of diets across the country to achieve washboard abs for that summer body – – But which are effective.the Paleo diet? Weight Watchers diet? 5:2 diet? Atkins diet? Slimming World diet? Sugar-free diet? Raw foods diet? Ketogenic diet? – – The truth is ANY of these can work providing you maintain a caloric deficit. It all comes down to energy balance ie. calories in vs calories out regardless of what you eat . Its true you COULD lose weight while eating only McDonalds every single day . People just choose not to as eating more vegetables lean meats and foods lower in sugar allow you to feel fuller for longer and are lower in calories meaning you can have larger portion sizes whilst maintaining a caloric deficit. Eating for nutritional value can be very different to eating to lose weight. For example you could opt for pecan nuts as a snack which offer a wealth of healthy fats vitamins and iron yet contain a huge 700 calories per 100g (thats 200 kcal for 19 half-pecans ). See what I mean? – – What you eat will depend on your nutritional & body composition goals. I would always adopt a diet that is fulfilling fad-free not over-restricting and most of all sustainable!
